Exclusive to me+™, this one day support group training course offers you the chance to learn all the practical aspects involved in setting up a local stoma support group.

Delivered by Dorothy, our Support Group Advocate, the day includes sessions looking at:

  • Why support groups are important to people after stoma surgery
  • How to get started setting a group up
  • How to organise meetings
  • How to publicise and promote the group
  • How to manage membership and build an organising team to help

By the end of the day you will leave with a useful set of resources and the knowledge to get a local group going in your area. The day is also of value to people who already run a group and would like some new ideas or support with challenges they are facing. It is also a nice opportunity to meet like-minded people and share ideas.

Dorothy has run a stoma support group in Scotland for 4 years and has had her ileostomy for 7 years, so she is well placed to share her knowledge and experience in this field.

“We got all the information plus lots of tips and shared tricks and collective ideas and knowledge. From thinking maybe I could start a group I now have the tools to actually do it. We all laughed lots and parted as new friends. All in all I would highly recommend this for anyone considering setting up a group.” – Jo, S Wales.

The course is free to attend for me+™ members and is held at different locations across England. To express your interest in attending this course please call our me+™ team on 0800 467 866.
